Abstract

The Environmental Radiological Surveillance Laboratory (LVRA) of the Radiation Protection and Hygiene Center (CPHR), belonging to the Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies Agency of Cuba (AENTA), has within its state mandate the radiological surveillance of food. In the same way, it is considered the national reference laboratory to certify the radiological quality of nationally produced foods destined for export that require it. This laboratory has been operating, for more than 25 years, under an accredited Quality Management System, currently according to NC ISO/IEC 17025:17, by the National Accreditation Body of the Republic of Cuba. During the last two years, as part of the identified improvement opportunities, a Database Management System was developed, which allows systematizing the information related to the analysis of activity concentration in food in such a way that it makes it possible to increase the potentialities of use of these data. Both imported foods and nationally produced foods will be reported in this database, which are tested to assess compliance with the values established for radionuclides in food in national and/or international regulations, as the case may be.
