Abstract

The soil erosion is one of the environmental phenomena that most negatively impact the planet, attempting against the land sustainability at all levels. Assessment the land redistribution, quantifying its losses, determines its vulnerabilities and it is very relevant for the national strategies implementation on the sustainable lands management. The nuclear techniques use as a tool for assessing soil erosion risks, has many advantages, being currently widely used internationally and introduced in different national agro-systems. The paper shows the use of the nuclear technique FRN (fallout radionuclides) in the “National Polygon of soil, water and forest conservation and valued the concentration of the 137Cs, as fallen radionuclide in the rain, determining the impacts of the soil erosion and assess the feasibility of the measures taken for its conservation and improvement. In compliance of sampling protocols and representativeness of the sample, for the collection transepts are used in direction of the slope. In order to interpret the laboratory results and obtain soil redistribution rate, complementary software of MSExcel “Conversion Model” was used, applying the “proportional model”, “mas balance I” and “mass balance II”. The 137Cs concentration characterized the soil erosion status in the study area in the medium term, confirming soil deposition due to the benefits of anti-erosion measures as high redistribution values were obtained in this area (-30.2 a 41.8) t/ha.a, compared to the reference site (-43.1 t/ha.a).
