Abstract

Multimodal systems images have become an important tool for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of many diseases. In the Direction of Biomedical Services of the Isotope Center (CENTIS), the installation of the SPECT-PET-CT (SCP) TRIO system of the MEDISO firm was carried out. The aim of this work was to evaluate and describe the performance of the triple head SPECT-CT-PET system. To carry out the tests, the manufacturer's recommendations based on NEMA standards were followed, combined with the methods suggested by the IAEA and AAPM publications. The hybrid parameters SPECT-CT and PET-CT and independent parameters for SPECT, CT and PET were included. A set of physical and clinical phantoms were used. Some intrinsic parameters of SPECT detectors such as energy resolution (<9%), intrinsic uniformity (<2.0%), intrinsic spatial resolution ~ 3mm and maximum count rate (> 700cps), showed relevant results. It was verified that the global sensitivity of the system, favored by 1/3 with respect to conventional 2-detector systems, of the tomographic ones, the system is capable of resolving lesions with a diameter of around 7.5mm. The evaluation of the performance of the CT and PET components showed acceptable results and a satisfactory performance of the integrated SPECT-CT-PET system was evidenced, showing excellent potential for basic and clinical research, for optimization studies, as well as great possibilities of the SPECT- CT components to provide images of optimal quality and diagnostic value.
